Clayton Park

Clayton Park (11/24/2017)

This is the first time we have done this beautiful Central New Jersey park. Surprisingly, even though it was already late November, it was the best fall foliage we saw this year (though admittedly we didn't hit the trails very much this foliage season).

Using the map on the second page of the park brochure, we parked in the large dirt lot and headed west along the Bridges Trail, immediately encountering a curious fox, which you can see in the first row of photos. At the northern bank of the lake, we continued east on Doctor's Creek Trail which we took all the way to the eastern side of the park. From there we continued east on the Old Forge Trail, looping in a clockwise direction until we reached, once again, the Doctor's Creek Trail. We then went south on the Bridges Trail, then just before getting back to the car, headed north and did the Glen Trail loop before heading back to the car.

Total distance hiked today was just over 5 miles in 2.5 hours.
