Closter Nature Center

Closter Nature Center (11/13/2010)

The Hike of the Week for 11/11/2010 (currently available on the Bergen Record website) described a 0.75-mile stroll in this lovely little nature area. An examination of the park map revealed at least two additional miles, so we headed to Closter today and did about 2 miles worth by hiking the hike described in the Hike of the Week, and additionally (a) the tiny stroll around the pond behind the visitor's center, (b) the lollipop of the blue trail and (c) the lollipop of the orange trail. The stroll on the white trail along the stream was very pretty, and we discovered lots of stubborn fall foliage (mostly on beech trees) on the orange trail. Incidentally, the visitor's center was closed at both 9 AM when we arrived, and at 10:30 AM when we left.

Total distance covered today was 2 miles in about 90 minutes.
