Colonial Lake Park

Colonial Lake Park (11/20/2016)

The leaves are almost completely off the trees in northern New Jersey, so we headed back south to central NJ this weekend to visit a few more smaller preserves, all within a five-minute car ride of each other. This was the third of three areas we visited today.

Using the map for Hike 14 in this brochure, we parked in the large paved lot off of the entrance ramp to Route 1 and did the loop in a counter-clockwise direction. The majority of this loop (at least as specified on the map) is paved, so this isn't a walk in the woods. The northern end, though, does continue into the woods. It's not specified on the map. We continued west, eventually reaching the parking lot of a warehouse, just north of where we parked on Route 1. Reaching the highway, we walked south along the sidewalk on the eastern side of the northbound lane for less than 50 yards and returned to the car. You can see our track here.

Total distance hiked was 1.2 miles in 30 minutes.
