Exactly one month ago we hiked the part of the Patriot's Path between Willowwood Arboretum to Longview Road. Today, at least three snowfalls later,
including the "Great Blizzard" of 2015, which turned out to be a bust in northern NJ but still dumped nearly a foot of snow in some regions (just
not the three feet that was predicted), we returned to hike another segment.
We parked at the Cooper Gristmill in Chester. Using this map I had planned on making it all the way to Bartley Road. But it became obvious to us within ten minutes that this was not going to happen. At times we were hiking in snow at least a foot deep, and were the first to trek this part of the PP since all the snow (the only other footprints were those of animals). The going was slow, so when we managed to make it to Furnace Road we decided to turn around and head back. It still took nearly three hours. Total distance today was 3.5 miles in nearly 3 hours.
