Hyper Humus Swamps

Hyper Humus Marshes, Paulinskill River WMA, Hyponex Section (6/14/2015)

This is one of my favorite places within driving distance to spend a few hours. It's an absolute birder's paradise, but with a good 5-6 miles to keep the active birders busy. We were here for the first time in August of last year. I simply couldn't wait another another before returning, so back we came today. It's a good place to come when it's a bit too hot to climb since the entire area is flat, with a tiny incline to Reynold's Lake. Today we followed the same track as we did in last year, visiting a bit more of the bank of Reynold's Lake. There weren't as many birds this time, but it's an amazing place regardless. Wear a hat, though, because at least 70% of the time you will be in the sun.

Total distance hiked was 6 miles in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
