Hyper Humus Marshes

Hyper Humus Marshes, Paulinskill River WMA, Hyponex Section (6/27/2016)

Today was the day after my birthday so I decided to head back to one of my favorite places in New Jersey, this birder's paradise. There seemed to be fewer birds here today then the last time we visited (which was almost exactly a year ago), but still plenty to watch and photograph! And this time instead of returning on the rail trail, we headed back the same way we went in, doubling our chances of seeing wildlife! It should be noted that the water level was too high to cross into the western part of the area (something we had done with no problems two previous visits). But we had plastic shoe covers and were able to cross it. The problem is, because of the water, that side is so overgrown (for lack of use) that it's nearly impossible to continue on that side. So we didn't do that part this time instead of visiting Reynolds Lake.

Total distance hiked was 3.6 miles in 2 hours and 40 minutes. You can see our path here
