I finally went digital in July, 2004. The ease of digital photography quickly got me back into a hobby that I abandoned some years back. My first digital camera was the Canon PowerShot S1 IS which I used for taking over 10,000 photos before upgrading (July, 2005) to the Canon PowerShot S2 IS, a large improvement on an already-terrific camera. Since then I have worked my way through many upgrades in this terrific series and (as of 12/24/2011) am now using the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS.

The vast majority of photos on this site were taken during hikes in New Jersey and New York. The reference for each hike (book, newspaper column or web site) is noted on the specific photo pages. Many times it's a hike of my own design, in which case I try to provide a very high-level description of the trek.

By the way, I'd love to hear from you! If you have any comments, complaints (e.g., your computer screen cracked when you were displaying photos of me), or even amusing anecdotes about life in general, please e-mail me.
