This is the hike of the week for 9/22/2006 as
described on the NYNJTC site. We did this loop, following the description in the book
50 Hikes in New Jersey, way back in
July of 2005, so it was time to return. Today the weather was gorgeous, with highs only in the low-80s,
a welcome respite after several weeks of humidity and temperatures in the 90s. So I took the day off from work and went hiking with my
friend Andy. We couldn't have picked a better day. The insects didn't even bother us, even though half the hike skirted a swamp!
Total distance was 6 miles in about 3 hours, with lunch near the Catfish Fire Tower.
