We took the day off from work to visit, with Laura's mom, the world-famous cherry blossoms of Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey.
The colors were phenomenal, with the blooms at peak! And the day was perfect! Sunny and in the high 70s, which is unseasonably warm for
this time of year. We visited two main spots. First, we visited the southern portion of the park, where the regal
Cathedral Basilica of
the Sacred Heart looms over the lake from the opposite side and a fountain sprays water near Park Avenue. Second, we visited the northern
portion which has no lake or church, but a beautiful walkway along the waterway and more blooms than in the southern section.
