Cole Road Greenway, West

Cole Road Greenway, West (9/28/2019)

This greenway, which borders open fields and also traverses through woods, is a relatively new network of trails in Readington Township, New Jersey. We headed here today, short on time, to hike all of the trails west of Cole Road.

Using the map on the first page of this brochure, we parked in the sizeable lot (the northern of the two indicated on the map) on the eastern side of Cole Road and headed into the woods on White, a gravel road between two houses. At the northern tip we took the spur to the Edgewood Road Trailhead, which is on a cul-de-sac with street parking. Returning to White, we continued SW, doing the loop at the southern point in a counter-clockwise direction. There's another parking area, though tiny, where the White and Orange southern trailheads are. Back to White, we continued on the Orange trail which parallels White and goes through the nice forest. When that brought us back to White we retraced our steps, until we got to Blue, a trail which was very much overgrown, and that we took all the way back to Cole Road. From there we did the very short road walk back to the parking lot.

Total distance hiked today was 3.6 miles in two hours.
