Deerpath Sanctuary and Turkey Hill Preserve
After a week of spectacular, warm, sunny hikes in southern Florida and the Florida Keys, it was quite a change heading back into the freezing hills of northern New Jersey, but this is our home and we love it here! Today we visited another Audobon Society area, this one right near Route 78, with traffic noise quite loud at times.

Using this map we parked at the western end of the Springhouse Trail (on Turkey Hill Road), taking this trail all the way to Tunnel Road which we then walked west (about 0.2 miles) to Parson's Loop, next walking the Fincher Trail across the road, before heading back east along Tunnel Road back to the trails. We took the Powerline Trail back to the car. We then took the car and drove about a mile north on Turkey Hill Road to hike the area known as Turkey Hill Preseve Grassland. But there is nothing blazed in here and we couldn't find any mowed path around the perimeter (as noted on the map) so we basically went SE, climbing a hill overlooking Route 78 before we turned back and returned to the car.

Total distance hiked today was 3.5 miles in 2 hours and 15 minutes.
