SMR: Elmdale North

Elmdale North Loop, South Mountain Reservation (3/24/2019)

Last week we hiked a loop using the southern half of the Elmdale Trail. Today we returned to hike a multi-lollipop that included the northern half of the Elmdale trail. We continue being surprised at the many blazed and unblazed trails in this park, just a bit more than 15 minutes from our house.

We parked in the Tulip Springs parking lot. We were one of about five cars before 9AM. At noon, when we finished, the entire lot was filled with dozens of cars, and cars were parked along both sides of the road. Needless to say, this is a popular area. Our hike today incorporated parts of the Lenape Trail, the River Trail, the Rahway Trail, the West Connector Trail, the High Water Bypass, the West Ridge Trail, and of course the Elmdale Trail. You can see our track here.

Total distance hiked today was 6 miles in just three hours.
