Two months ago, we hiked a stretch of this beautiful rail trail from Gnome
Hollow on the east end to Spring Valley Road on the west end. Today we returned to hike a 3.2-mile stretch west of Spring Valley Road.
Today, as it turned out, was the hottest day in New Jersey so far this year. When we finished the out-and-back the feel-like temperature
was over 100 F. We parked in the large lot at Footbridge Park in Blairstown and headed east all the way to Spring Valley Road, where we
turned around and returned to the car. The section between East Crisman Road and Spring Valley Road is one of the loveliest stretches of
an rail trail we have ever done, with views of the Paulins Kill along nearly the entire stetch.
Total distance hiked today was 6.7 miles in under 3 hours.
