Governor Mountain

Governor Mountain, Ringwood State Park (2/21/2022)

It's been nearly 17 years since we hiked Governor Mountain. So, it was about time to do it again. Back in 2005, it was one of the hottest and steamest hikes we had ever done. I remember having to clean my fogged up camera lense before snapping every photo. Today, with temperatures around freezing, it seemed like we had never hiked it before.

We parked in a small dirt lot on the north side of Carletondale Road, where the yellow-blazed Cooper Union trail crosses. There is enough room here for a few cars. We crossed the road, heading south on Yellow, taking the eastern approach to the viewpoint, which was much more spectacular than last time (one of the benefits of leaves off the trees). Then we returned on the western leg, once again crossing the road and continuing past the car, north on Yellow, until it was time to turn back, which we did.

Total distance was over 3.5 miles in about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
