Hoffman Park

Hoffman Park (6/12/2010)

After three hikes with moderate to strenuous climbs this past week in Vermont and Massachusetts, we decided to do something easier today. But easy doesn't mean boring. On the contrary, this beautiful park in Hunterdon County is one of the most tranquil and beautiful spots in the area. And it was filled with wildflowers, ponds, and wildlife. We saw birds of all sorts (including egrets and a couple of bat houses), frogs, snakes, squirrels, chimpmunks and even a fox! Alas, the fox only showed itself for about 2 seconds before ducking back into the woods, so you won't find a photo of it here.

Following this map, we hiked nearly 4 miles following Hairpin Lane, then Manny's Pond Road, Lower Lane, Powerline Road, Crow's Road, Tunnel Road, Lehigh Lane, Owl's Roost, then Heron Road.

Total distance hiked today was nearly 4 miles in about 2.5 hours.
