Oregon - Day 2

Oregon - Day 2 (7/12/2007)

Today was a very busy day. We arose early, had buffet breakfast at our hotel in Cascade Lakes and then set out to do two hikes that were suggested by my Oregonian friend Nancy. From the book 100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon & Southwest Washington (3rd edition), we did hike #44 (Oneonta Falls & Horsetail Falls) and then hike #42 (Angels Rest). Lunch was comprised of snacks along the trail. After a quick shower at the hotel, we headed further east along I-84 to Hood River, a wonderful little town with excellent restaurants, coffee bars and shops. We had mission-style vegan burritos for dinner at Taco Del Mar, and then cappuccino and gelato at a local coffee bar in town. We then drove to a trail along the Columbia Gorge that runs 4.5 miles between Hood River and Mosier. We didn't hike it, but walked along the gorge a bit before returning to our hotel in Cascade Lakes.
