Oregon - Day 3 (7/13/2007)
Today, after breakfast at our hotel in Cascade Locks, we drove to the incredibly magestic Mt. Hood, which was completely visible because of the
wonderful sunny weather. We first visited the historic Timberline Lodge, where parts of
Stanley Kubrick's The Shining were shot. Then we did a
hike around Mirror Lake, aptly named for the reflection it casts of Mt. Hood. We had lunch at the lake, lucious Tofurkey sandwiches that we purchased at
a health food store, Mother's Market, in Hood River the previous day. Then we headed back to Hood River and hiked about 6-7 miles along the Columbia Gorge (towards Mosier).
But we didn't make it as far as the Mosier twin tunnels. For dinner we dined al fresco at the
Multnomah Falls Lodge, where the very cool waitress Tiffany
made sure I had something vegetarian and played a practical joke on me regarding my credit card.
