Patterson Mine Lollipop

Patterson Mine Lollipop, Tranquility Ridge County Park (6/10/2018)

We hiked this area, northeast of Monksville Reservoir, nearly seven years ago. Today we returned to do a lollipop which involved the Monksville Connector trail, and trails and woods roads within Long Pond Ironworks and Tranquility Ridge County Park.

We parked at the small pull-off on the eastern side of Beech Road and headed north on the green-blazed Monks Connector trail. We continued NW on the yellow-blazed Hasenclever Iron trail until we reached its western end (there are informative signs along the way). We next headed north on the blue-blazed Sterling Ridge trail, but veered to the east on the unblazed road which passes through the Patterson Mine area. This we took SE to another woods road which led us in a southerly direction back to the Hasenclever Iron trail where we retraced our steps on the Monks Connector trail back to the car.

Total distance hiked today was almost 5 miles in just over 3 hours.
