Last month we hiked a bunch of trails in the western part of this beautiful swamp. Today we returned to walk the Boondocks Boardwalk through La Plus Grande, and then follow trails along the nothern and eastern perimeter. The last time we hiked through La Plus Grande was back in November of 2009! When we returned in July of 2013 it was closed. And last month we simply didn't have time.

Using this map we parked in the large lot at the Environmental Education Center (which was closed), and headed north on Red, all the way to the boardwalk trail that passes through La Plus Grande. We followed the boardwalk in a clockwise direction, then continued on boardwalks following the left-hand rule. We visited the Dance Floor, paralleled the Passiac River heading south, then visited the East Observation Tower on Yellow, then passed the Lily Pad Pond, its pier, then the pier for Esox Pond, before heading back to the car, along the path south of Esox Pond.
