About nine years ago, we hiked along the south branch of the Raritan River, in the Wings Section of South Branch Reservation. But we didn't have a chance to hike
the River trail from the southern parking area of the Deer Path Park. Today we reaturned to do that.
Using this map we parked in the southern-most lot of Deer Path Park and headed south into the woods on what the kiosk identifies as the River Trail, even though the map calls it the Readington Trail. When we got to the Orange trail, we headed south, all the way to the end of the trail before turning back and retracing our steps back to the car, using trails on opposite sides of the open fields. Total distance hiked today was 4 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
