Silas Condict, Yellow Trail

Silas Condict County Park, Yellow Trail (7/29/2018)

When we visited this rugged park last week, we noticed a new trail, blazed in yellow, that wasn't on the official park map, nor on the free NYNJTC map. So we returned today to hike the Yellow trail as part of a lollipop.

Like last week, we parked in the lane of parking spaces on the entrance road, just a bit west of the entrance. We walked west along the road past the park utility shed and headed into the forest, climbing a gravel path. When we reached White, we turned left, heading in a clockwise direction. We intended on making a left at the eastern end of the new Yellow trail. But as luck would have it, we encountered two hikers at the kiosk who decided, after some introspection, to make a left on Yellow at the very moment we were approaching. So, we continued on White heading west, then north, and made a left onto Yellow at its northern end. We took the new Yellow south, then east, back to White, which we took back to the car. The new trail is a beautiful trail which passes through some nice fern patches, and has at least three benches along the way.

You can see our track here. Total distance hiked today was 3.1 miles in about 3 hours and 15 minutes.
