SMR: Turtleback Woods Road Loop

Turtleback Woods Roads Loop, South Mountain Reservation (3/24/2019)

Schedule commitments and weather have prevented us, in the first few months of 2019, from doing as much hiking as we usually do. But today we did manage to squeeze in nearly two hours in the woods.

Returning once again to South Mountain Reservation, we hiked a loop on woods roads that we had not previously hiked. We parked in the Turtle Back Picnic Area, off of Walker Road, and headed south along the soccer fields into the woods. We took the Longwood Trail to the Girl Scouts Camp Oval, then continued west on the Girl Scout Trail to the Reservoir Trail, which we took north, with pretty good views of Orange Reservoir, despite the presence of many trees. We continued north where the trail comingled with the Zoo Loop trail before getting on the North trail which we then took back south to the car.

You can see our track here.

Total distance hiked today was 3.8 miles in an hour and 45 minutes.
