We haven't hiked in this state park for about 11 years! So, with the leaves starting to change color, we headed west, while remaining in Morris County.
We parked at the Park Office and headed north along Red, with the Muscanetcong River to our left. The leaves are changing, with lots of yellow in the forest. We next continued on Red/White, then White continuing east. We took the first unblazed trail (shown on the NYNJTC map) up the mountain to Blue and then continued southeast to White. We took that south and then west, next taking another unmaintained trail (also seen on the NYNJTC map) which headed steadily downhill until it reached Orange. We turned left on that trail and hike it entirely, first climbing and then descending, all the way back to the car. Total distance hiked today was 4.3 miles in just over 3 hours.
