Wyanokie High Point

Wyanokie High Point, Norvin Green State Forest (10/21/2019)

We haven't climbed to Wyanokie High Point since 2013, and never during peak fall foliage... that is, until today. Wow what a great fall hike this turned out to be!

Using the map on page 2 of this brochure from the NYNJTC, we parked near the New Weis Center and headed west on the Green trail, next heading south (and beginning to climb) on Blue/Yellow, continuing on Blue at the fork. It's on this stretch of Blue where you are treated to some amazing views to the west and to the east. Continuing on Red, we climbed to Wyanokie High Point for a nearly 360-degree view, which included the Wanaque Reservoir, the Manhattan skyline, and Yoo-Hoo Point to the south. Continuing on Red, we turned left on Yellow, taking that back west all the way back to the lollipop stick (Blue, and then Green) back to the car.

Total distance hiked today was 3.5 miles in about 3.5 hours, with lots of climbing!
