Fairview Farm

Fairview Farm (8/15/2021)

We hiked this lovely preserve back in 2018. At that point even though some of the trails were overgrown, we were unable to hike over four miles. Today we returned to see if the situation had improved. It was actually worse. Even more trails are now overgrown, so we ended up doing lots of backtracking.

Our track is too complicated to describe here. Suffice it to say that the Blue trail on the map (see the page cited above) isn't reachable from the south. Nor is the western part of the southern leg of the "Red" trail (which is actually White in the forest). Finally, while we were able to hike the northern stretch of Yellow last time, it was very overgrown just east of where Green meets it. So we had to turn back there this time as well.

Regardless, it's still a beautiful area, with a colorful flower garden. And we got to interact with several very friendly cicadas along the way!

Total distance hiked today was 2.8 miles in just over 2 hours. We then spent about 30 minutes visiting the beautiful flower gardens.
